Biographical Notes

dr-sabbahDr. Robert Sabbah completed his medical studies in 1984, and his specialisation in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Université de Montréal in 1989.  He pursued a post-doctoral formation at McGill University in fertility and reproductive endocrinology from 1989 to 1990.

Doctor Sabbah practices at Sacré-Coeur Hospital in Montreal since 1989,  and his  scientific director of the OB-GYN department since 1992.  He has been chief of that department from 1997 to 2005.  He is currently chief of gynaecology  since 2007.

Dr. Sabbah is clinical professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the Université of Montréal and he is also responsible for continuous medical education at the Sacré-Coeur Hospital in Montreal. Furthermore, he provides theoretical, clinical and surgical education in obstetrics and gynaecology to residents and medical studens in family  medicine, as well as classes in advanced laparoscopic surgery where specialists of international reputation are often invited to participate.

He is also in charge of the annual congress of gynaecological and perinatal medicine that he organizes for Sacré-Coeur hospital since 1992. He is an associate member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada,  and  was examiner for the Royal College in obstetric-gynaecology from 2004 to 2007.  He is also member of the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada and of the American Association of gyneacologic laparoscopists.   Dr. Sabbah is also very implicated at the provincial level as a member of the executive committee of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Quebec and is vice-president of that association. He is a representative for the Federation of Medical Specialists of Quebec.

Dr. Sabbah also participated in the clinical development of new surgical techniques in endometrial ablation and tubal ligation by hysteroscopy, as well as carrying out research and scientific courses on these same techniques, all the while being a member and guest speaker for the American Society of Minimally Invasive Gynaecological Surgery.
